The Mission of Dowling Catholic High School

    Dowling Catholic High School is committed to serving the Greater Des Moines Catholic Community and embracing learners of all faiths.  Dowling Catholic will inspire a Christ-centered love of learning and respect for fellow human beings through the application of moral principles, a commitment to service, and excellence in academics, athletics, the arts and extra-curricular activities.

    Dowling Catholic High School wants every student-athlete to have a positive experience while they are involved in athletics.  Being a part of a team, weather you play a little or a lot, whether you are a player, manager or statistician, has great benefits.  Being a part of a team at DCHS builds physical, social, spiritual and emotional skills.  Some of the greatest memories that a young person has from high school will come from a sports team that they were involved in.  We want our students to love participating on the swimming team.  We want our student-athletes to have fun while competing.  We believe that student-athletes have the right to have a high school career not consumed by the “year round” single sport mentality.

    We believe that all student-athletes should be respected, cared about and well coached.  We believe that each sport is not in its own vacuum, but that we all should work together and support each other.  The total program’s interest takes precedence over an individual sport.

    We believe that our priorities are:  God and family, then academics and then athletics and other activities.
